It sounds like it couldn't happen, but it's true. People are judged on what they wear. And not in the good sense either. What I'm talking about is the hoodie. I recently read an article from The Root about Geraldo Rivera and his statement about the hoodie being the reason why Trayvon Martin was murdered. I know this sounds insane, but I'm going to have to agree with him here.
I have a hoodie and I wear it on cold days and on days when it's windy. The problem is is when I go to the store. More than once I've been followed by the security guard. C'mon please, really? Once when I was at Lucky and once at Marshalls. Yes, I know . . . I'm a bargain shopper. That's besides the point.
Who would have thought that wearing a grey hoodie would cause the rent-a-cops to go crazy?! So bazaar! It's annoying, too. I can't tell you how awkward it is to see a rent-a-cop at the corner of your eye every time you turn around the isle for the entire duration of your shopping experience.
The hoodie everyone . . . is well, a symbol of something bad I guess. It's not fair. On cold days sometimes you just want to wear a hoodie.
