Dragonfly Shadowbox Part 1

I'm totally stoked that this is working. My husband found a dead dragonfly at work and gave it to me. This was probably three years ago. And now I finally am getting to it. I feel a little bit strange that I did this because out of all the things that I could be doing this Summer I'm doing this.

Something tells me that I should have been an entomologist, but something also tells me that I would not be good at it!

Basically, after doing some research online, I found out that  I can still make something out of a dried out crusty dragonfly. I've seen shadowboxes in fancy magazines and I said, "Shoo!", I could do that.

So, this is Part 1 of the process. I had to keep the dragonfly in a air tight chamber with a damp paper towel with a little pine-sol. After about two days the dragonfly relaxed. Looks alright for being my first time.

Thanks to this HOW TO: Pin a Butterfly I was able to get this project going. Also, another webpage I found inspirational was this page on Insect Shadow Boxes. I bet you're glad I didn't make my dragonfly holding a teacup, huh? I'm not, I actually thought it'd be cool if I had it eating pie and ice cream, but I found out that the dollhouse miniatures I wanted are bank--no joke.
